Travelling in Style

Today I’m travelling back to my home away from home – Sunderland.

Due to unforeseen circumstances, I had to spend an extra week at home thus missing my first week back at uni.

The journey itself is gruelling but so far it’s been quite peaceful. Thank God there aren’t any footballers in this train carriage! – There were last time and let me tell you … they were not happy! (I’m guessing their team lost.)

We’ve just past York so I shouldn’t have too long left. However, I don’t have any Internet so by the time you read this I’ll be back at my uni flat.

In true blogger fashion, I thought: If I’m going to travel, I may as well do it in style! And I'd like to think I succeeded.

I’ve been looking for the perfect opportunity to debut this gorgeous fedora for two weeks now, when my lovely friend Nic gave it to me for my birthday – thanks honey, I love it!

As for the rest of my outfit I just went for comfort – jeans and a tee – ooh and my boots because they wouldn’t fit in my case!

What I’m wearing:
Jeans – Topshop Joni
Blouse – Topshop
Cardi – Primark
Boots – New Look
Hat – Miss Selfridge
Backpack – Rocha John Rocha
Watch – Coccinelle
Necklace - Gift

By the by… there is a story behind the backpack of buttons! I collect them, and originally planned to cover the whole lip in buttons but it’s still a work in progress! But I’m sure it’ll look great when finished.

Hope you’re all well, and good luck to all with up-and-coming exams!

Ten Spring Snapshots

Welcome back to All Things Rosy if you're still with me! For this post I wanted to do my regular 'My Week In Pictures' but let's just say I've had a very eventful Easter 'holiday', so I thought I'd do a little snapshots post, with the stories to go along with them since it has been a while, and for that I can only apologise.

But let's crack on with the show, chronologically of course!

1. Last Tuesday (07/04) I was due to catch the 9:35am train from Newcastle. But me being me, I stood waiting at the wrong end of the platform and hence missed my train. So, I went to Costa, had a cuppa and composed myself while I waited for the next one.

2. (07/04) That same day, after finally arriving in Derby, I went for the dreaded "trim"; which is never really a trim is it? I'm always left feeling like I have a bob - just when I'd accepted I had long hair!

3. 08/04 On the 9th I had a girly sister day with Clairey. We went into town and had a bit of a wander - I picked up these two short stories in Waterstones for only 80p each (!) which is fab because they're both favourites. We then met our Mum for lunch in Revolution and I had a yummy blackened chicken burger and Claire impressively demolished one of their pizzas!

4. 09/04 Last Thursday, my best friend Nicole and I, caught the train up to Meadowhall for a day of shopping. I tried on the most beautiful twenties dress in Miss Selfridge (wasn't it beautiful?!) but we sadly had to part ways after consulting my bank account.

5. 10/04 Last Friday we took a trip up to Burton and stopped by a lovely antique shop called The Lobby Emporium. I love roaming about shops like this as you never know what you'll find, it's so quirky and interesting.

Girls Night Out!

6. 11/04 On the Saturday night, all my friends came over to celebrate my birthday which was to be the following day. It was so nice to see them all, especially Caroline, Katie and Harriet as I hadn't seen them since September when we all parted ways. We had a fabulous night in town and I definitely paid the price for my dancing the next day - my feet were so sore!

Pressies!
7. 12/04 My 19th Birthday! Here are a few pressies I received from my friends. How cute is the little rabbit jewellery holder? - Thanks Em!

Tres Chic Clutch & French Style Books I got for my birthday.

8. 13/04 On the 13th Mum and I drove up to Manchester and went shopping at Cheshire Oaks Designer Outlet. I picked up this gorgeous 'TRÉS CHIC' clutch bag that I've been trying to get my hands on for weeks! It was a great day, but unfortunately I didn't feel too well so we had to head to the docs after.

I had a cannula in for 10 hours!
9.  15/04 After the doctors on Monday, I was sent for blood tests on Tuesday - and it turned out I was rather ill. Consequently I spent all of Wednesday in hospital with severe anaemia. I had two blood transfusions and this horrible thing called a cannula in my hand. It was a very long day, but on Thursday I was given the all clear after a scan, so now I'm on the mend and doing much better!

Waiting for the bus. Watch - Coccinelle/ Purse - Fossil.
10. 17/04 After taking Thursday out to catch up on my sleep, (and 'Once Upon a Time') I was feeling much better by Friday. I went into town to meet my close friend Frances. We had a fab day together. We had lunch at Little Frankie's, and then went to the cinema to see 'Woman In Gold' - which I highly recommend, it was fabulous!

All in all, I've had a busy yet very eventful holiday. I won't be returning to Sunderland for uni this week, as my doctors want to make sure I'm well before they let me go. But honestly, I feel much better and I'm hoping to stay that way!

Hope you're all having a lovely Sunday!

Getting Involved at University - Netball

Hey hey hey! Sorry it’s been a while, but I’ve only just got back from a fabulous week in Salou on tour with my netball team; which you may already know if you follow me on Instagram. And then it was bank holiday weekend so it was very busy.

But you’ll be happy to know that I am finally back and settled at home in Derby, so let the blogging commence…

After spending last week in Spain with the netball girls it made me realize that joining netball waaaay back in September was probably the best choice I’ve made since I joined the University of Sunderland.

I’ve met some fabulous girls (all tens obvs – private joke! hehe) and they have made this year absolutely wonderful. Now I’m back at home for two weeks which means I’ll be missing two classic Wednesday nights out with them, which are always brilliant sheerly because they are such a lovely group of girls.

Netball has been such a brilliant outlet away from the stress of uni, to unwind and just play sport. Along with all the social and personal benefits too.

Last week on tour in Salou was so so fun and it inspired me to write a little short but sweet post about it. I really encourage you all to join a team when you go to university. Even if it’s not a sports team – because there are hundreds to choose from (from quidditch to languages!) each with their own thing that you can get involved in.

Tour takes place every year and almost all the universities in the UK go away somewhere with each team. Basically you go away, tan (some do - I just burnt my nose) drink cocktails, play sport and dress up in funny costumes whilst partying it up with your team. We did Harry Potter, Disney and Farm Animals this year and it was hilarious!

Farm Animals Fancy Dress!

Harry Potter Cast Fancy Dress!

Honestly, I think without it, this year would have been so boring. I always look forward to a training session, even when it’s fitness (gasp!) and I always relish in our Wednesday matches away because at the end of the day, it’s really just a trip away with my friends, in which we just happen to play some netball.

They are my team win or lose and I honestly don’t know what I’d do without them!

So here’s a big shout out to all my netball girls – I love you!

Do you play any sports? What teams are you on? Do you feel that same sense of unity with them? Let me know in the comments below!

Lots of love,

Rosie
