Time Flies

This weekend I was lucky enough to be able to go home for a few days as we have a 'reading week' at Uni, which is basically like a half term in which you should do some work!

The reading week provided me with a great opportunity to go home and visit my family as I haven't seen them since I started waaay back in September (the 13th to be exact). And it was recently both my Sister's and my Dad's birthdays. So it was lovely to be able to go home and just be around them again.

Saying that, it really was a jam-packed weekend. I got the train down to Derby at 8pm on Friday so arrived at 10:30pm both knackered and drowsy. My Mum picked me up from the train station and took me home - straight to bed in fact as I'd had a very busy day - including my first shift at my new job! (I got a job at Costa! *Woop woop*)

And oh my, can I tell you how much I missed my own bed. It was beautiful to wake up in a double bed. I can't even convey how comfy it was in comparison to my bed at uni. Wow.

Back in my own room!

Blogging at my desk
Saturday was just spent chilling. Relaxing in my own room. Watching Orange is the New Black and seeing my dear Auntie and Cousin.

Peter and I on the swings!
On Sunday, we went to Alton Towers to celebrate my sisters 13th birthday and we had a great day out! It ended up being just me and my brother, Peter, going round together, as Claire and her friend stayed together, which worked out really nicely as we never really have time alone to chill. The rides there were fab, as were the doughnuts, which we treated ourselves to! And to top it off we‘re pretty sure that we saw Chris Robson (the England Rugby player) there too!

On Monday, I was surprised to have an early visit from my cousin Jess before she went back to Leicester, which was lovely, as I really have missed her! Then I headed to Nottingham to meet my best friend Megan, and we went to the White Rabbit tearoom, which was adorable! It was great to see her too because it’s just been so long.* I was then surprised for a second time that day when my friend Nicole text me to see if I wanted a cuppa since she had an hour to spare (she’s a very busy gal) – and I jumped at it! So we had a lovely little catch up over tea and biscuits in my room.

*Uni is great and all but golly gosh I have missed my friends!

Then to top it all off, on Monday night my Mum and I went for a meal out and a well needed catch up. It was officially the best day I’ve had in a long time!

FWIS - Tuesdays Outfit
Tuesday wasn't as hectic. I just popped into Derby to see my close friend Frances, who is an absolute cutie! We went to Frankie & Benny’s for lunch then did a spot of Christmas shopping – it was wonderful! Then I went back home to pack up all the things I forgot to bring the first time ready for my 8pm train back to Newcastle.

All in all, I had an amazing weekend, although it did feel so odd to be home as I now have a new place that I refer to as home. It just happens to be 150miles away. It's just a shame it all went by so quickly, but as they say: 'Time Flies when you're having fun!'

I hope you enjoyed this post, even if it was mostly me rambling! If you’re interested in a range of uni related posts can you let me know in the comments below? I’m thinking of doing a room tour/ootd kinda thing but I’m not too sure so let me know!

Until next time my lovelies,

Presents for Men*

Buying presents for men can be a hard task. And with Christmas vastly approaching I think it's about time we start planning ahead. We’re all guilty of saying that we're going to buy our presents early each year, but it never really works out does it?  Well this year, I’m here to help you up a step on the male present-choosing-buying ladder!

Personally, I've always found it hard to buy good presents for boys. Be it my brother, Dad, boyfriend or any other male family member, it seems as a species they've decided to be difficult in this area.

Whenever I ask my Dad what he'd like for Christmas/Birthday I normally get a sarcastic reply of 'peace and quiet' or 'socks'. And as boring as they both are he usually gets his way and I feel like I let him down in buying something bad.

But don't fret, (!) as this year I've found the solution! Men’s gifts sets - yes, they are out there! I've had a good nosy around the high street and found some really lovely ones.

This particular set from House of Fraser is the 'Great Skin for Him Gift Set' by Clinique. It has great reviews and looks really cool – simplistic is always best in my opinion when it comes to men! It isn't too fragranced either, which is often a problem with Men’s smellies. Instead of that 'I just dropped a whole bottle of cologne on the mat and went with it' kinda smell, it has a nice fresh and clean smell (which is always good!) and this particular set contains aloe vera so it's also kind to the skin!

It comes with:

  • Shaving Gel
  • Face Scrub
  • Post Shave Moisturiser
  • Anti-age Moisturiser

I think these sets are a really good idea for men as they don't need too much fussing over in the mornings (lucky!) so these do just the job - and they'll come out smelling nice (bonus for you!)

My brother was kind enough to try this set out and we found that his skin is looking much clearer already.Which is always a plus! So there are visible improvements within one week of use as the products all work very well, none are too harsh. He particularly praised the exfoliator - which left him with instant results and clearer skin.

Here are a few other sets I've seen around:

I hope you enjoyed this post, let me know if you'd like to see any other posts like this below in the comments box.

How's your Christmas shopping going? Have you started yet? Let me know - I love a good chat!
